Nonni’s Chili is family favorite. We have a few. It is a hearty and delicious recipe you will love. Fresh home grown ingredients make this recipe even better. This is an easy and delicious recipe was passed down from Nonni and I am going to share it with all of you now. My favorite time of year to make this recipe is in the Fall when temperatures are declining.
- 2# Ground Beef
- 1# Chuck or Sirloin Chunks
- 2 Cloves of Garlic Minced
- 1 Large Onion Chopped
- 2 Large Cans of Tomato Paste
- 3 16 oz Kidney Bean, Black Bean and or Pinto Beans (I like to one can of each)
- 3 Tablespoons Chili Powder
- 4 Teaspoons Crushed Red Pepper
- Salt and Pepper
- 48 oz Water
Saute onion and garlic. Add meat and saute until browned. Add paste, water and seasonings.
Cook 1 hour then add drained beans and cook another hour.
This chili freezes very well. It can be served with elbow macaroni.
I like to add grated cheddar cheese and raw chopped onion. Occasionally I will add avocado and sour cream. The idea is to personalize it to make it your family’s favorite!
How to make this recipe as healthy as possible.
Add your home grown tomatoes, onions and garlic. If you grow beans use your home grown beans. I also grow my own red peppers to season it with. And for the best tasting chili buy pasture raised meat from your local farmer. The less processed ingredients you use the better the health benefits and taste. If you can’t or don’t have a garden then buy fresh organic, non-gmo ingredients. Every little bit you can do helps.
